Admission Process at SSPAD
Bachelor of Design is a four-year degree programme offered by Symbiosis School of Planning Architecture and Design which is the best b des colleges in Nagpur under the umbrella of FoAD – Faculty of Architecture and Design.
The degree is awarded by the Symbiosis International (Deemed University) (SIU), Pune, which is established under Section 3 of UGC Act 1956 vide notification No. 9-12/2001-U.3 dated 10th November 2006 of UGC, Government of India. This b des course in india aims to create professionals who can contribute to the highly dynamic and competitive design world.
To get admission in bachelor of design colleges in india a candidate must have passed 10+2 (any stream; eg. Science, Commerce, Arts, etc.) or equivalent OR 10+3 Diploma approved by State Board of Technical Education with minimum 50% (SC/ST - 45%) aggregate marks obtained in the final examination to be eligible for the above-mentioned programme.
A candidate appearing for the final examination of 10+2 grade or 10+3 Diploma programme may also apply provided the results of the examination should have been declared by June of the admission year or prior to be eligible for the above mentioned programme.
25% (Twenty-five percent) seats are reserved for candidates domiciled in Nagpur.
Meaning of "Nagpur Domiciled" Candidates for admission to UG programmes:
"Nagpur Domiciled" means persons, who are domiciled in Nagpur for a period of 5 (five) years as on the date of commencement of the academic year, and who have class XII from Maharashtra State Board or equivalent exam or Degree certificate or are appearing for the qualifying examination of Nagpur University before admission to the programme.
A candidate appearing for the final examination of 10+2 grade or 10+3 Diploma programme may also apply provided the results of the examination should have been declared by June of the admission year or prior to be eligible for the above mentioned programme.
- Domicile certificate issued by the competent authority (Collector`s office).
- Standard XII Marksheet. Applicants appearing Standard XII can submit Bonafide certificate from the current institution and Standard X Mark sheet.

The candidate should possess Creative Aptitude & Skills necessary to pursue b des course in India for design education as well as adoptability to the situations, which the profession demands. Candidates with the relevant portfolio would be preferred.
All Indian students are required to take the Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED), which will be held on 12th Jan 2025 No candidate is entitled to seek admission to SSPAD without a valid SEED score. Validity of SEED score is for one year only.
Register online for SEED at www.sspad.edu.in. Facility of payment of SEED fee and printing of Admit Card is available online. A student aspiring to pursue an undergraduate programme at Symbiosis needs to follow the steps mentioned below:
Mode of SEED Exam: Online Proctored (PC/Laptop based exam)
Exam timings: One hour between 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on the test day.
SEED Exam test structure: The SEED will be a 60 minutes exam having 60 questions. The questions could be MCQ, Match the Columns, Fill in the blanks, image-based and comprehension based.
The paper will contain a mix of questions related to Visual Sensitivity and Judgement, Observational, Perceptual and Reasoning abilities, Problem Solving, Basic knowledge of Logic of Science and Mathematics, Art, Craft and Culture, Design and Environment.

Final selection would be based on the cumulative performance of the candidate in Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED), Portfolio Review, PRPI Task and Personal Interaction as well as on the basis of the information provided by the candidate in the application form and the chosen specialization.
SEED is a design aptitude test examining color, geometry, visual observations, creative thinking abilities, general design awareness, awareness on Indian culture, craft and traditions etc. The question paper would consist of objective questions with multiple choices and would have following structure:

There will be no negative marking for wrong answers.
SEED is a Design Aptitude Test and would have following topics. These are indicative topics and questions might also be drawn from similar and relevant topics.
Understanding and visualization of simple and complex 2D & 3D geometric shapes, their manipulations and spatial relationships through representations in pictorial and geometric forms.
Ability to read and see objects and information beyond obvious details, make connections, make comparisons, form opinions, draw meanings & conclusions. Analyze your observations, express your point of view and present in a systematic and structured manner.
Ability to visualize and relate images around us. Ability to identify a problem and attempt to provide solutions.
Observing applications of basic principles of science and mathematics learned up to standard 10th in the day-to-day activities & objects and finding the interesting relevance.
General awareness of Art, Craft, Culture, Design and Environment in Indian as well as in Global context - Various topics and sub-topics, people, material, tools, techniques, issues & concerns, influences, period, and contemporary trends.
Your digital portfolio should be a compilation of your best works showcasing your skills, passion and interest in a variety of areas and techniques. Click good quality pictures of these and compile them in a PowerPoint Presentation of maximum 15 slides. Convert this into a PDF of size up to 5 MB. Do make sure to include the work you are proudest of. Try to be different and include unique and interesting things.
Do note that if any incidence of unfair means in the making of your portfolio is observed, your candidature will automatically stand cancelled.

- SSPAD the b des colleges in Maharashtra fees could increase by, up to 10% during the period of the programme. Fees would also be impacted by any introduction / change in Government Taxes as and when applicable.
- The above-mentioned fee is an annual fee and is generally payable in two installments.
- The fee would be accepted by NEFT / RTGS or by demand draft payable at Nagpur only and will have to be deposited by the candidate in the bank designated by Symbiosis School of Planning Architecture and Design through a challan.
- The students are required to pay the fees on or before the stipulated date. Late payment of fees by students (except at the time of admission) is allowed only in genuine cases. In such cases, the parent has to submit a written request to the Director and on approval has to pay the fees with a fine of Rs. 500/- per week within the approved period.
