Bachelor of Design (B.Des) Program Overview – SSPAD
The Bachelor of Design (B.Des) is a four-year undergraduate program offered by Symbiosis School of Planning, Architecture, and Design (SSPAD), with the degree awarded by Symbiosis International University (SIU), Pune.
This program prepares students to thrive in the dynamic and competitive world of design, integrating traditional skills, cutting-edge digital tools, and essential soft skills to ensure a holistic learning experience.
The Foundation Year builds a strong base in visual perception, sketching, design thinking, and designing methodology while fostering professional attitudes, critical analysis, and historical awareness. SSPAD offers two key disciplines in Communication Design and Industrial Design, with specialized learning pathways.
The Communication Design program at SSPAD focuses on various media, including print, interactive displays, gaming, and animation. It emphasizes problem-solving and user impact, preparing students for careers in graphic design, UX design, animation, and game development.
Students develop expertise in typography, branding, digital design, and visual communication, blending creativity with technical skills. The program prepares graduates for careers in graphic design, advertising, and branding.
- Choice-Based Learning in Fashion Communication – Covers Graphic Design, Space Design, Fashion Media, and Fashion Thinking, blending hand and digital skills for a practice-based approach.
Students master user-centered design, usability principles, and digital interaction to craft seamless web and mobile experiences, leading to careers in UX/UI design.
- Choice-Based Learning in AR/VR – Offers hands-on experience in Augmented and Virtual Reality technologies through specialized electives.
- Choice-Based Learning in Product Design – Allows students to specialize in various aspects of product design, fostering innovation and user-centric solutions.
Covers storyboarding, character design, traditional and digital animation techniques, preparing students for careers in animation and film production.
Focuses on game mechanics, storytelling, graphics, and user experience, equipping students for careers in game design and interactive media.
The Industrial Design program emphasizes aesthetic, functional, and user-centered product and space design.
