Is the hostel facility available?

Yes, SSPAD has hostel facility for boys and girls inside the campus.

What about the student’s safety in the campus?

As SSPAD is a residential campus, the students are monitored by wardens headed by campus admin. Boys & girls hostels are under surveillance by separate wardens.

Is there internet facility available in the campus?

Yes, the campus has 24X7 WiFi facility available.

SSPAD has ICT enabled Class rooms, Studios, Library, Labs, Workshops, Conference Room, Seminar Hall and Exhibition and Display area. Studios and classes with well air conditioned space, equipped with top class comfortable furniture such as drafting tables, heighted stools, lockers for individual student, audio visual teaching learning facility along with other high-tech facilities which creates conducive learning atmosphere with creative thinking.

What are sports and other allied facilities available in the campus?

Apart from classrooms & studios the campus having Auditorium, Guest House, Gym, Health Care, Mess, Indoor & Outdoor sport courts, etc. Also, the campus has ATM facility, CCTV surveillance, Security, Access for Differently abled people.

Does institute support if I want to continue career in sports?

SSPAD fully supports and encourages sports activities. The further sports related facilities are provided by Department of Sports Recreation and Wellness (DSRW) under SIU.

Is there parking facility for students & visitors?

2 wheelers are allowed for students inside the campus. Car parking is available outside of campus.

The admission process & registration for 2025 has started on our website from 18th August 2024. All admission updates are available on our website from time to time.

When is the entrance test for Admissions 2025?

Is SEED exam compulsory for Admission to B. Des Programme?

Yes. SEED is compulsory followed by Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction.

What is the fee for the SSPAD Admission Process registration?

The registration fee is Rs. 3250/- (Rs. 2250/- for SEED & Rs. 1000/- for SSPAD)

Are there any coaching classes/ preparatory classes guiding candidates to appear for SSPAD Admission Process?

SSPAD does not promote or is aware about any coaching classes/preparatory classes.

If foundation programme / diploma is done from some other institute can one get direct admission to second year at SSPAD?

SSPAD does not have any provision for direct admission to second year.

What is the admission procedure for International students? All the admissions for international Students are handled only through Symbiosis Centre for International Education (SCIE). To know the detailed admission procedure for Degree Programme of Design, a student needs to log on to website www.scie.ac.in or write on intadmissions@symbiosis.ac.in.

I have given wrong email ID during registration; how do I get it corrected? Kindly send an email with your details and correct mail ID on admissions@sspad.edu.in

When will I get the admit card?

The admit card will be available on our website. You will have to download & keep a hard copy or soft copy ready. It is compulsory to display admit card as a proof of identity.

When will the result be declared?

The merit lists will be displayed on our website as per given schedule.

Portfolio Review & Personal Interaction

Where do I upload my Portfolio?

The portfolio upload link will be available on our website after Personal Interaction slot is booked by you. https://www.sspad.edu.in/index.php

How will you distinguish between self-made &ready-made portfolio? For experienced faculty, it’s fairly easy to tell if a portfolio contains original work or pre-made content. During the PI round, you will be asked questions related to your portfolio. If any form of dishonesty is detected, your application will be disqualified.

What should my Portfolio include?

Your digital portfolio should be a compilation of your best works showcasing your skills, passion and interest in a variety of areas and techniques. Do make sure to include the work you are proud of. Try to be different and include unique and interesting things.

Will I be asked to make or draw/sketch during my Personal Interaction round?

You can be asked to. You should have basic stationery including pen, paper, and pencils available with you during your PI session.

How will I book the slot for Personal Interaction?

I have a handmade portfolio. Can I show my portfolio during PI round?

You will have to click pictures of best work, compile it in a PPT and upload the PDF format on the given link. You cannot show your portfolio during PI as it is compulsory to upload it before your slot for interaction.

How will I join the Personal Interaction?

You will be intimated about the same through email on the email address shared during registration.

B. Des Programme and Specializations

Does SSPAD come under same Symbiosis University?

Is this a Degree Programme? What is the duration?

Bachelor of Design (B. Des) is a 4-year full time degree Programme.

Is this degree recognized out of India?

B. Des degree is awarded by Symbiosis International (Deemed University), which is established under Section 3 of UGC act 1956 by notification No. F.9-12/2001-U3 Government of India and hence it is a recognized degree worldwide.

What are the disciplines and specializations offered under B. Des programme?

SSPAD offers B.Des Programme in two disciplines and five specializations.

Is this degree recognized by UGC?

B.Des degree is recognized by UGC and the degree nomenclature is included in Section 22 of UGC. The degree is approved by AICTE.

Is there any PG course offered by SSPAD?

No, SSPAD presently offers only UG courses in design.

Does SSPAD offer any short term / distance courses?

There is no short term / distance course offered by SSPAD.

Do you offer degree in Interior Design?

Yes. We are offering specialization in Interior Space Design under Industrial Design discipline.

Eligibility for Admissions

Is there any age limit for taking admission to SSPAD?

There is no age limit for taking admission.

What are the eligibility criteria?

Passed Standard XII (10+2) or equivalent examination from any recognized Board or 10+3 diploma approved by State Board of technical Education with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grade (45% marks or equivalent grade for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes).

Is there any benefit for Nagpur Domicile candidate?

25% (Twenty-five percent) seats are reserved for candidates domiciled in Nagpur. Meaning of "Nagpur Domiciled" Candidates for admission to UG programmes: "Nagpur Domiciled" means persons, who are domiciled in Nagpur for a period of 5 (five) years as on the date of commencement of the academic year, and who have class XII from Maharashtra State Board or equivalent exam or Degree certificate or are appearing for the qualifying examination of Nagpur University before admission to the programme.

1) Domicile certificate issued by the competent authority (Collector`s office).

2) Standard XII Mark sheet. Applicants appearing Standard XII can submit Bonafide certificate from the current institution and Standard X Mark sheet.

3) Last five-year education documents which prove the Nagpur domicile category.

Is it necessary to have 10+2 in Science stream for Industrial Design?

A candidate from any stream having completed or appeared for 10+2 can apply for any specialization in design at SSPAD.

What skills are desirable for B. Des.?

The candidate should possess Creative Aptitude & Skills necessary to pursue Design Education as well as adoptability to the situations, which the profession demands. Candidates with the relevant portfolio would be preferred.

Will my 12th Std result impact my admission at SSPAD?

Yes. If you do not clear the basic eligibility for the programme, your admission cannot be confirmed.

Can I pay the fees in Instalments?

The Academic Fees can be paid in two instalments. The fee would be accepted by NEFT / RTGS or by demand draft payable at Nagpur only and will have to be deposited by the candidate in the bank designated by Symbiosis School of Planning Architecture and Design through a challan.

Is there a collaboration of Symbiosis for education loan with any bank?

Symbiosis has collaboration with IDBI Bank and Bank of India for Education Loan.

Internships/ Placements

Do you offer placement after B. Des?

The SSPAD Training & Placement Cell supports students in securing internships during their final semester for degree projects, as well as summer internships. Additionally, the placement cell helps students find suitable job opportunities in line with SSPAD placement policies and guidelines.

Internationalization or Study Abroad Opportunities

SSPAD has tie ups with which International Universities?

SIU has MOUs signed with 45 International Universities.

In which year are Semester Exchange opportunities available to students?

Usually in the 4th year of degree.

How are the students selected for the exchange program?

There will be central selection process where interviews are conducted. If you clear that, you can apply to the University.

What about SSPAD exam/result after semester abroad?

Courses of students selected for exchange are mapped with those of the host university. The students’ scores at the host university are reflected in SSPAD results.

What would be the cost/ expenses of semester exchange program?

Usually the cost ranges between 3 lakhs to 7 lakhs (INR). If you are selected for a Semester Exchange or Fee Waiver programme, only living travel expenses and no tuition fees are to be borne by you. If you are selected for Semester Abroad, you have to bear the tuition fees as well as living expenses.
